Solfest Event

June 21, 2003

MACARTHUR PARK - The Animal News Van went out for its first educational outreach at Solfest in downtown Los Angeles. Festival attendees watched in amazement as the ANV played footage of pigs and cows in factory farms. The response was amazing. Three men gawked at the ANV’s plasma screens in horror as what goes on behind the scenes in food animal production was revealed to them. Anxious to see more, they followed the van down the street as it drove away, finally turning when they could chase the van no longer.

Also in attendance were interested activists who, anxious to help the cause, helped pass out literature along with the other ANV volunteers. Vegetarian Café Luna Sol staff members also came out to admire the van and ask for literature to place in the Café for patrons. All in all, the van’s first outreach made a huge impression and was a success.
