AVID MICROCHIPS AND LAST CHANCE FOR ANIMALS
JOIN TOGETHER FOR DISCOUNT “friendchip day”
FOR COMPANION ANIMALS
to Promote Pet Theft Awareness and
Save 2 million Pets Stolen Annually
February 19, 2004, Norco, CA -- On the occasion of American veterinary identification devices’ (AVID) new Norco, California headquarter opening, southern California pet owners are being offered a 60% discount to microchip their pets for only $20 each with permanent identification that Last Chance for Animals (LCA) endorses as a means to fend off pet theft. Proceeds from the “chipping day” will benefit LCA and their national Pet Theft Awareness program. Last Chance for Animals, known as the “FBI of Animal Rights,” and AVID, the nation’s largest pet identification product company, are working together on this day to raise awareness and funds to eliminate pet theft. Approximately 2 million pets are stolen each year in the U.S. The public is invited to bring any companion animal to 3185 Hamner Avenue, Norco, California 92860 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2004. Proceeds from the sale of “friendchips” will benefit Last Chance for Animals. For directions, call 800.336.2843 or for tips on how to keep you pet safe, call LCA at 310.271.6096.
Founded in 1984 by Chris De Rose, Last Chance for Animals (www.lcanimal.org) is the “FBI of Animal Rights,” a national, nonprofit advocacy organization dedicated to ending animal exploitation and suffering.
“friendchip” is a tiny computer chip which has an identification number programmed into it. The chip is encased in a smooth, strong biocompatible glass, and is small enough to fit into a hypodermic needle. Once an animal is injected with the chip, he can be identified throughout his life by this one-of-a-kind number. His identification cannot be lost, altered or intentionally removed.
