Advocating Animal Issues Around the Clock
By Katie Woodward, Sarah Roberts and Marla Hartman
On June 1st we at LCA launched our latest endeavour: the Animal News Van (ANV). The
ANV, partnered with the website AnimalNews.com, packs a massive societal punch with its dual 42” plasma television screens, message boards and sound system. It is designed to bring the message to the people, enabling LCA staffers to be on location at animal events throughout Los Angeles County.
This remarkable medium has the ability to reach millions of people through a range of educational focuses, from pet overpopulation to vivisection and beyond. This will be the first vehicle of its kind in the area, modeled after the popular “FaunaVision” van created on the East Coast by Eddie Lama.
This mobile outreach and education unit is the most effective way to reach people because it will enable us to reach people across cultural and economic lines, using images to communicate (the marquee can also be adapted to display messages in any language). We’ve discovered that when video is used during peaceful demonstrations by LCA, people flock to the images and come away with a newfound sense of responsibility toward animals.
Look for the van at festivals, schools, celebrity events, circuses, rodeos, television broadcasts, and more! Wherever there is a story about animals, a large crowd of people, or any location where animal abuse is happening - the Animal News Van will be there!
