Walk of Hope
By Sarah Roberts

Sept 20th, 2003 – HUNTINGDON BEACH. The Animal News Van was attended a fundraising walk, which benefited humanitarian aid in Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa, India, and Southern California (http://www.bethecause.org/walk/). Walkers signed up for more information about animal issues, as well as watched videos of undercover vivisection footage, reading up on what happens to animals and speaking with LCA staff and volunteers.

Several schoolteachers stopped by the Animal News booth, and informed the LCA staff that they wanted a copy of simply everything on the table, to take back to their schools to show the children. LCA staff gave permission for the teachers to make duplicate copies of the Animal News handouts for the school children, and the teachers excitedly grabbed literature.

LCA volunteer Uva Mason had her face painted as a puppy dog named “Buster Dog.” Children thought of her as the Animal News mascot, and very young children seemed to understand just by gazing on her face and at the booth that the van was here to help animals, which was a popular hit with these young ones.

Look for the animal face painter at the van’s next stop: Best Friends Super Adoption Event!
